Coinbase Launches Thematic Basket Indices Built by Pyth and MarketVector

Coinbase Markets launches four thematic basket indices built through the Pyth and MarketVector partnership: AI10, Defense10, China10, and Tech100. Each gives traders exposure to a defining market theme priced continuously.

The Four Indices

  • AI10: Exposure to the leading public companies in artificial intelligence

  • Defense10: Concentrated exposure to defense and aerospace

  • China10: Targeted exposure to Chinese equities

  • Tech100: Broad exposure to the U.S. tech sector

Each index gives Coinbase traders a way to express a view on a theme rather than a single name, through products built for a regulated platform and priced around the clock.

How They're Built

These are the first multi-asset baskets in the Pyth Indices suite. Pyth's single-asset indices, including oil, U.S. equities, and metals, are built in-house on Pyth's first-party data. Thematic baskets on a regulated platform require more.

MarketVector, a VanEck company and a regulated benchmark administrator with over $100 billion in assets tracking its indices, provides the index methodology and governance. Pyth provides the underlying data and continuous 24/7 pricing. Coinbase provides the venue and the audience.

Each partner contributes what it does best, combining into a complete index offering.

The Template for What's Next

The Coinbase launch is the first product from the Pyth × MarketVector framework, and it sets the pattern. Any exchange, platform, or issuer can now build branded or thematic basket indices the same way. The partner brings the theme or strategy. Pyth and MarketVector handle the methodology, calculation infrastructure, ongoing administration, and continuous data sourcing. From concept to live in weeks.
